Is the treatment covered by insurance?
The Osteopathic Treatment is covered by many extended health plans — most plans cover osteopathy, so check yours in advance. Receipts are issued as Osteopathic Treatment (DOMP). Pure massage sessions are wellness work and don't come with an insurance receipt — but the osteopathic session includes most of what a relaxation massage does, with the added healing effect.
Will you crack my back?
Never. Gentle, low-force techniques only — no thrusts, no cracking, no forcing. The complete list is public.
What is osteopathy?
A hands-on manual practice that treats the body as one connected system and works on the cause of tension and restriction — often not where you feel it. Full plain-language explainer here.
Is an osteopath a doctor? Do you diagnose?
In Canada, osteopathic manual practitioners are not medical doctors. I don't diagnose, prescribe or treat diseases. I assess and treat structural imbalance. If you need a physician, I'll tell you and refer you.
Who do you not treat?
Children (adults only), and chronic or complex medical pathologies — those deserve medical professionals, and I'll help you reach the right one. My work is for everyday bodies: desk tension, stress, stiffness, tiredness, recovery.
Where are you located?
In Britannia, Ottawa's west end — 69 Kempster Avenue, with free on-site parking, a few minutes from Nepean, Bells Corners and Westboro. More on osteopathy in Britannia, Ottawa → · open the map.
What happens during a session?
One session, two sets of techniques — you make only two choices.
Your part is simple: choose how long, and how the preparation feels. You choose the feel. The assessment chooses the fix. In a spa massage, relaxation is the result; here, it's the starting point.
How does the assessment work? Is it extra?
Your first visit begins with a 30-minute Initial Assessment. It can start at home: intake forms arrive online with your booking, and you can add a free video call to go through them together. At the first session the hands-on assessment confirms your plan before treatment begins. (A real osteopathic assessment needs hands — the video call prepares your visit, it doesn't replace it.)
Do you offer packages?
Yes — multi-session packages are available on the Osteopathic Treatment. Never sold as pressure — only if a short series genuinely fits your plan.
What should I wear? How do I prepare?
Comfortable clothing. For Thai-style work you stay dressed — bring socks, yoga or sweat pants, and a T-shirt. For oil massage you undress to your comfort level; we recommend a firm swimsuit bottom (no drawstrings — it holds the sheet draping securely) or plain, snug underwear. Men: Speedo-style or regular briefs work well; knee-length swim shorts don't. Arrive hydrated. Nothing else needed.
How many sessions will I need?
It varies. Many people feel a clear difference after one or two. Long-standing patterns may need a short series — discussed openly, never sold as a package you don't need.
Is heat-assisted preparation safe?
Where the room allows heat, it's optional and screened first. Heat is generally comfortable, but people with cardiovascular conditions, certain medical conditions, or pregnancy should consult their doctor — and we skip it when in doubt.
Do you use warm oil and aromatherapy?
Yes — warm oil and a chosen aroma are part of most sessions. They aren't only pleasant: warmth and scent both help the nervous system settle, so the hands-on work lands deeper. Here's why warm oil & aroma help you let go → Prefer to skip the scent — a sensitivity or simply preference? Tell me, and we'll work without it.
Can I combine this with physiotherapy, chiropractic or RMT massage?
Yes. Osteopathic work complements other therapies well. Tell me what else you're doing so the approaches support each other.
